Entry 2: Breathe

Mon Sep 28, 2009, 4:15 PM
Sometimes it takes an abrupt change in your life to see just how you’ve been experiencing it, sometimes for the better; occasionally for the worse. I have recently been shown just how shut my eyes have been. Looking at the world through a narrow scope, analyzing instead of experiencing, sitting idly by opposed to joining in the fun. Any who have followed my journals in the past (Other sites) may recall how this is a reoccurring theme. Wandering through the jungle of life, taking the same paths over and over until that day you finally realize that there are other ways, other sights, and other feelings. The key this time has been letting go. Releasing the past, releasing the future and embracing the moment. Opening your eyes, looking around and seeing what beauty rests about you. All the things our brain passes over while we work out the past’s problems and contemplate the future’s woes.

It’s as easy as turning our focus to what we are doing right now.
Breathe
Feeling the air pass up and in through our nose, tickling the hairs inside and gifting us with the scents of our environment.
Breathe
Feeling the wind move inside, within, past our cheeks and down our throats. Our chest expanding and filling until the eventual release.
Breathe
The breath passing back up through your chest and through your throat, making it’s way back out and returning to where you took it from.
Breathe
Expand your focus to the inside of your cheeks. Feel your own warmth radiating throughout. Follow it in behind your eyes and down towards your jaw.
Breathe...

Every time we take a breath in we intuitively release it back out, creating a synergy with our environment every moment of every day. It is this series of occurrences, this most common act that should show us not to worry about our past breaths, but to embrace the one we have now and experience it. The same goes for our time spent with others, the tasks we may be performing or the creations we may be creating. Take in all that you can, breathe your reality.
